Memories of My Mom part 2

Here is the Parable I used a few years ago to create a memorial scrapbook for my mother. I get a little teary reading it and thinking about my mom and that it could be many more years before I can see her and my dad again. I hope she can see how I am keeping her and my dads legacy alive by telling Austin and Logan about them.

...hijack...
For the last couple weeks Logan wants me to go into my studio closet with him and then pick him up where he waves and says 'bye' to something that isnt there or that I cant see anyway. One time he said 'bye' and then some other word that i couldnt understand but it sort of sounded like Bob which is my dads name. weird!

Parable of a Young Mother by Temple Bailey

The young mother set her foot on the path of Life. "Is the way long?" she asked. And God said: "Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it. But the end will be better than the beginning."

But the young mother was happy, and she would not believe that anything could be better than these years. So she played with her children, and gathered flowers for them along the way, and bathed with them in the streams, and the sun shone on them, and life was good, and the young mother cried: "Nothing will ever be lovelier than this".

Then night came, and storm, and the path was dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother drew them close and covered them with her mantle and the children said: "Oh, Mother, we are not afraid for you are near, and no harm can come." And the mother said: "This is better than the brightest of days, for I have taught my children courage."

And the morning came and there was a hill ahead, and the children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary, but at all times she said to the children: "A little patience and we are there." So the children climbed, and when they reached the top, they said: "We could not have done it without you, Mother." And the mother, when she lay down that night, looked up at the stars and said: "This is a better day than the last, for my children have learned fortitude in the face of difficulty. Yesterday I gave them courage, Today I have given them strength."

And the next day came strange clouds which darkened the earth - clouds of war and hate and evil, and the children groped and stumbled, and the mother said: "Look up! Lift your eyes to the light." And the children looked and saw above the clouds an Everlasting Glory, and it guided them beyond the darkness. And that night the mother said: "This is the best day of all, for I have shown my children God."

And the days went on, and the months and the years, and the mother grew old, and she was small and bent. But her children were strong and tall and walked with courage. And when the way was hard, they helped their mother; and when the way was rough they lifted her, for she was as light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill, and beyond the hill they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide. And the mother said: "I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know that the end is better than the beginning, for my children can walk alone, and their children after them."

And the children said: "You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates."

And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates closed after her. And they said: "We cannot see her, but she is with us. A mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence."

Memories of my mom

My friend is making a memory for the family of a friend who recently passed away. Her friend left 2 small children behind and asked me about ideas for pages and 2 things immediately came to mind. A song by BJ Thomas that played at my wedding and a story I scrapbooked about a mother who protected her children in a storm. Here are the words to the BJ Thomas song and I will post the story later when I have more time.

I have a reminder on my calendar to read an inspirational message that will help me better myself. The website is (www.appleseeds.org). The one I read today was under Choices - Decisions - Commitment and was called 7 Keys for Joyful Living. Here is a blurb but I encourage you to check it out.

KNOW YOUR PURPOSE - Nothing will bring you joy more than knowing what it is that you are about on this earth.

LIVE PURPOSEFULLY - Let your actions and schedule reflect your purpose. Don't react to circumstances and let them cause you to live without your purpose fully in sight.

STRETCH YOURSELF - Whatever you are doing, stretch yourself to do more!

GIVE MORE THAN YOUR TAKE - It brings happiness to accumulate.

SURPRISE YOURSELF AND OTHERS TOO - Every once in a while, do the unexpected. It will put a little joy in your life, and theirs.

INDULGE YOURSELF SOMETIMES. - If you will allow yourself an infrequent indulgence as a reward for a job well done and a life well lived, you will appreciate the indulgence and experience the joy of it.

LAUGH A LOT! - Learn to laugh daily, even if you have to learn to laugh in bad situations.

Great News

My dr called me this morning and told me that my test results came back negative. No cancer cells. I sent an email to a couple of friends who were anxiously waiting to hear. Well probably not as anxous as I was, but still. Anyway, Deb replies ' Thats the power of God. THE POWER OF GOD. Just 4 little words that mean so much. I have much to be thankful for. Now if I get hit by a bus tomorrow on my way to work, I want these songs at my funeral.

  1. How Great Thou Art - Elvis version because thats what we did for my parents
  2. Above All - Michael W Smith
  3. I can Only Imagine - Mercy Me
  4. Our God is an awesome God (for Austin, he likes this song) - maybe Chris will sing it

Waiting for Test Results

A few weeks ago my dr called to let me know that the test results from an endometrial biopsy I had, showed that I have endometrial hyperplasia and that I needed to have another procedure to see if I had cancer. On top of the chronic pain issues I am having with my leg, I wasnt equipped to deal with this and had a minor breakdown at work.

So I had the procedure on July 7th, a hysterotomy and D&C and I am now waiting for the results.
